The Story
A preliminary survey of the 40-acre City Park site of the new $1,000,000 farm laboratory to be established here got underway this morning with the visit of F.A. Gastrock, chemist of the Bureau of Soils, United States Department of Agriculture, Washington. Mr. Gastrock, a native Orleanian and chief chemist for the Celotex Corporation here for 12 years, came to New Orleans to assist Dr. Edwin D.Hunt, who has been stationed at Houma making federal surveys for the past few months, in getting stated on the topographical survey for the new plant announced for New Orleans earlier this week.
