The Story
Gas - Louisiana's latest gas processing plant went on stream last week at Grand Chenier, southeast of Lake Charles. Operated by Continental Oil Company, the new facility handles 500,000,000 cubic feet of offshore gas a day. Companies who are participating in the venture, in addition to Conoco, are Atlantic-Richfield Company, Tidewater Oil Company, Cities Service Oil Company, Mobile Oil Company, Newmont Oil Company, And Shell Oil Company. The 130-foot high de-methanizer tower, with the scaffolding still in place is in the center of the photo.
