The Story

Attorney Paul H. Markham of Melrose walks through newsmen as he leaves Dukes County Courthouse at Edgartown Tuesday where he testified at inquest into the death of Mary Jo Kopechne. Miss Kopechne died in car driven by Senator Edward M. Kennedy when it plunged from bridge on Chappaquiddick Island and into a pond last July 18. Markham accompanied Senator Kennedy to Edgartown Police headquarters to report the accident some hours after it occurred.
