United States Navy - Lieutenant J.L. Parlette, captain of the PCE 892, shows Lieutenant Colonel E.J. Diering, Air Force Reserve, how to use a statimeter, an instrument used to determine distance between ships. Twenty New Orleans men are among the 96 naval reservists on a two-week training cruise to Jamaica aboard the PCE 892 and PCE 842. They are receiving instruction in anti-aircraft, anti-submarine and other drills necessary to complete refresher courses aboard ship.
