William Attwood, former diplomat and now editor in chief of Look Magazine, is the author of "The Reds and the Blacks" to be published Thursday. In the book, Attwood says during the three months before his assassination, President John F. Kennedy showed a cautious but favorable response to overtures by Cuban Prime Minister Fidel Castro for a resumption of diplomatic relations
