The Story
The first infantile paralysis preventative clinic in the world was officially opened at Temple University Medical College in Philadelphia. Kolmer Clinic, named after the man who developed the vaccine used in the prevention of the dreaded disease, is ready to inoculate anyone against infantile paralysis. Left to right are Nurse Doris Yetter, Robert Bongard,4, who was the first patient inoculated in the new clinic, and Dr. George Klug, Director of the Kolmer Clinic, who is injecting the serum.
