The Story

In Rome, Italy, a German shepherd, with her own litter at her side, inspects, with her long snout, the latest addition to her family, a two-day old lion pup. The new-born lion, held by the Director of the Rome Zoo, Dr. Ado Brogini, was refused a home by her mother, and the Zoo was forced to broadcast an appeal for a female dog who could nurse the tiny lion. The first meeting of the dog and her adopted offspring proved successful.
